E-Commerce Systems That Sell More With Less Manual Work

Shopify, WooCommerce, or a fully custom storefront — matched to your product, your margins, and how much manual work your team can actually handle.

UK e-commerce is brutally competitive in 2026. Ad costs have doubled, organic reach has shrunk, and a storefront that only "looks nice" gets lapped every quarter by competitors who automated the boring parts. We build e-commerce systems that do the work a growing UK SME cannot afford to do by hand: product recommendations, abandoned basket recovery, stock sync across channels, automated VAT and invoice generation, fulfilment routing.

We are platform-agnostic by design. Sometimes the right answer is a fast Shopify build. Sometimes it is WooCommerce on WordPress because you already run content there. Sometimes it is a fully custom stack because your product or fulfilment model just does not fit either. We help you pick before we build.

What's included in an e-commerce build

The shape of a typical engagement. Every project is scoped individually — this is what we reach for by default.

Platform selection, honestly

Shopify vs WooCommerce vs custom — we recommend based on your margins, catalogue size, and fulfilment model, not based on whatever we want to build.

AI product recommendations

Cross-sell and upsell blocks trained on real behaviour, not generic "you might also like" widgets.

Automated fulfilment

Orders flow to your warehouse, 3PL, or dropship supplier without anyone re-keying anything. Stock levels update in real time across channels.

UK tax, VAT & invoicing

VAT handled correctly on the cart, auto-generated compliant invoices, Xero or QuickBooks sync for bookkeeping.

Abandoned basket recovery

Email and SMS flows set up, written in British English, wired into Klaviyo, Mailchimp or your existing ESP.

Performance & SEO

Core Web Vitals under real Lighthouse thresholds, product and offer schema on every PDP, ready for Google Shopping and AI search.

Who this is for

  • UK brands outgrowing a basic Shopify template and losing sales to a slow, manual checkout.
  • Businesses selling on multiple channels (own site, Amazon, eBay, Etsy, physical shop) and drowning in stock reconciliation.
  • Teams that want to run promotions, bundles and abandoned-basket flows without a dedicated marketer.
  • Founders shipping physical products who need the site wired into warehouse, fulfilment and accounting.

How we build it

STEP 01

Platform audit

Review your catalogue, margins, channels and fulfilment model. Output: a straight recommendation on whether to use Shopify, WooCommerce or go custom, with honest trade-offs.

STEP 02

Scope & tailored quote

Written scope covering storefront, integrations, recovery flows, and timeline. One price, no surprises.

STEP 03

Build & migrate

We build the storefront, migrate your products, customers and order history, and wire up fulfilment + accounting before anything goes live.

STEP 04

Launch & optimise

Site ships, we watch the first 30 days of real data, and tune the high-impact levers: checkout, recommendations, recovery emails.

Frequently asked questions

Shopify or WooCommerce — which is better for a UK small business? +
Shopify is faster to launch, hosted for you, and has a stronger app ecosystem — but you pay monthly fees and transaction fees unless you use Shopify Payments. WooCommerce is free (ish) and deeply customisable but you own the hosting, security and updates. Our rule of thumb: Shopify for brands focused on marketing and speed, WooCommerce for teams already running WordPress content. Full comparison on our blog.
Can you migrate an existing store without losing data or SEO? +
Yes. Product data, customer accounts, order history, URLs and SEO metadata all migrate with a 301 redirect map in place. We run the new store in staging alongside the old one and cut over on a single scheduled window with zero downtime.
Do you handle Google Shopping and Meta feeds? +
Yes. Product feed generation, structured data (Product, Offer, AggregateRating schema), and submission to Google Merchant Center and Meta Commerce are standard on every build.
How do you integrate with Xero for VAT and accounting? +
Orders, refunds and payouts sync to Xero automatically using a combination of native connectors (where reliable) and custom middleware (where not). VAT handled per UK/EU rules. See our Xero integration guide.
Will the site be fast on mobile? +
Yes — Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP) are non-negotiable on every e-commerce build. We test on real mobile devices and throttled 4G before sign-off, not just desktop Lighthouse.
